Uniform Inspection Sheet

2009 Pinewood Derby Schedule

Weigh-In - Thursday January 22nd and Friday 23rd

Tools to fine-tune for final car registration.  All Scout cars must be turn in by 8:00 PM, Friday to the Pinewood Derby Committee at Good Sam to race on Saturday; No Exceptions! Once car is checked in, it is not touched again until race time.

Mom, Dad, and Siblings Races will be held starting at 7:00 PM.  This is for any interested non-Scout parent, brother or sister who wanted to exhibit their car building technique or race a car built strictly for fun.  Fun for the entire Family!

Race Day - Saturday, January 24th  Race Day, 1:00 PM

Volunteers and Den Leaders please arrive early.  Races will begin promptly at 1:00 PM, beginning with the Tigers and running in den order until Webelos II are finished.

DERBY CAR TIPS:  Keep those axles straight and strong by adding glue when you tap on the wheels.  ‘Straight’ wheels add speed to your car, and glue prevents last minute breakdowns due to pre-race wear and tear.  Remember lead is toxic to young children, so be careful.

SCOUT RACE RULES:  Please read the Rules included in your car kit.  They contain very important information regarding the race, entrance requirements and other details.

JUDGING:  Scouts in each Den will race against each other to determine who has the fastest car. Races between the cars that won each den will determine who has the Fastest Car in Pack 168!

We will also have style judging based upon a team of judges.  The winner of the Style award will be the Scout in each den who makes the best-crafted or most creative Pinewood racer that doesn’t look like Dad did it for the Scout!  The goal is to have the Scout make the car to the best of his ability. Judges scoring is final.  Ties will be broken with a coin toss.
